Gusau, Zamfara State — April 10, 2025
Tragedy struck along the Bungudu-Duhuwa Road in Zamfara State on Wednesday as unidentified gunmen shot and killed a man, Garbati Fnu, and his son, Abubakar Babuga Garbati. The assailants reportedly also made away with their motorcycle after the fatal attack.
Sources told NewsReporters Online that the victims’ bodies were taken to the General Hospital in Bungudu for autopsy before being handed over to their family for burial rites.
Later that same evening, a separate but related incident occurred along the Sokoto-Gusau highway, where a group of armed bandits ambushed members of the Community Police Guards (CPG) stationed at a checkpoint between Sauna and Gidan Kano.
According to local sources, the CPG personnel were overwhelmed during the surprise attack, resulting in the abduction of one of the guards, identified as Asiru Dawa. He was reportedly taken to an unknown location by the assailants.
In response, military operatives have launched a manhunt and rescue operation in a bid to apprehend the perpetrators and secure the release of the abducted guard.
As of the time of this report, the Zamfara State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on either incident.
