A major traffic gridlock has crippled movement along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday morning following a ghastly motor accident near the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Camp.

The accident, which occurred in the early hours of the day, has brought vehicular movement to a standstill on both inbound and outbound lanes of the busy expressway, stretching from Berger to Mowe.

Eyewitnesses and commuters report that all alternative routes, including the usually accessible one-way detour through the Mountain of Fire axis, are also blocked.

As of the time of filing this report, emergency response teams were yet to clear the scene, and there is no official confirmation yet on the number of casualties involved in the crash.

Motorists have been advised to remain patient and avoid taking illegal routes, as efforts are underway to ease the traffic congestion.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is yet to issue an official statement, but commuters are encouraged to seek alternative travel plans or delay movement if possible.
