Kogi, Nigeria – Despite attempts by the Kogi State Government and the Nigeria Police to halt her homecoming, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has arrived in her constituency to a grand reception.

The Kogi State Government had earlier banned rallies and public gatherings ahead of her return, citing security concerns. Authorities also suspended fishing activities across the state, linking recent deaths in Kasemiya, Katubo, and Umozu Ette to fishing-related incidents.

Similarly, the Kogi State Police Command issued a security alert urging the embattled senator to suspend her planned rally. Police spokesperson SP William Ovye Aya stated that intelligence reports suggested the event could pose a security risk to residents.

Defying the Odds
Despite these obstacles, Akpoti-Uduaghan proceeded with her visit and was met with an enthusiastic crowd of supporters. Her arrival comes amid her ongoing political battle with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she has accused of sexual harassment.

The senator was recently suspended for six months by the Senate over alleged misconduct during plenary, a decision many of her supporters see as politically motivated.

Her defiance of the restrictions and the massive turnout for her homecoming highlight her political influence in Kogi Central, setting the stage for further tensions between her and the state’s political establishment.
