Tragedy struck the Nigeria Police as an officer of the force in the rank inspector identified as Haruna Mohammed has been found dead in a hotel room in Ogun State, with his female companion missing.

Mohammed, who was attached to the Ishashi Police Division in Lagos, reportedly checked into Super G Royal Hotel at Anthony Uzum Estate, Oyeyemi Akute, around 1 a.m. on Saturday with an unidentified woman.

Hotel Staff Discovers Body
According to sources, the hotel manager, Deborah Adejobi, discovered the officer’s lifeless body at 8:52 a.m. after noticing that the room door was left open. However, the woman who checked in with him was nowhere to be found.

The hotel owner, Abiodun Olagunju, reported the incident to the police, stating that the woman was last seen around 6 a.m., when she briefly visited the reception to request a bottle of water before disappearing.

Police Confirm Officer’s Identity
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the discovery, noting that initial checks did not immediately reveal Mohammed’s identity.

“At first, it was the uniform found in his bag, so it was not possible to say he was a police officer. There was no identification card on him or his belongings,” said Omolola Odutola, the police spokesperson in Ogun State.

“But further investigation revealed that the deceased was an inspector of police serving with the Ishashi Division in Lagos. The DPO has been contacted, and his body has been identified.”

Investigation Underway
Mohammed’s body has been taken to Life Channel Mortuary in the Olambe area of Akute for further examination.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have launched a manhunt for the missing woman and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death.

Authorities have urged anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward.
