KADUNA – Mohammed El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed support for the ongoing probe of his father’s administration, provided it is conducted fairly and without bias.
In an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Saturday, Mohammed, who represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, emphasized that accountability is essential but warned against using investigations as a political tool.
“If done for selfish reasons, such inquiries only harm progress,” he stated.
Addressing reports of a strained relationship between his father and his successor, Governor Uba Sani, Mohammed dismissed the claims as media exaggeration. He, however, admitted feeling uneasy about the tensions between the two leaders, given their significance in his life.
“It is not my responsibility to reconcile them,” he said, adding that his focus remains on serving his constituents rather than mediating political disputes.
Drawing an analogy to Bollywood cinema, Mohammed remarked, “Some people are delighted, seeing my father and the Governor enmeshed in a conflict, just like the legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra fighting.”
Despite the ongoing rift, he reiterated his commitment to governance and urged that the probe be conducted with integrity.
