The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has congratulated Nigerian singer Tems on her victory at the 67th annual Grammy Awards.
Tems won the Best African Music Performance award for her song Love Me Jeje, defeating strong competition from Yemi Alade (Tomorrow), Asake & Wizkid (MMS), Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay (Sensational), and Burna Boy (Higher).
In a statement shared via his X handle on Monday, Obi praised Tems’ achievement and also celebrated other Nigerian artists who received nominations despite not winning.
“I extend my hearty congratulations to our Nigerian Afrobeats star, Tems @temsbaby, who just secured her second Grammy Award with her win in the Best African Music Performance category. I also rejoice with Nigeria’s entertainment industry and other Nigerian artists who were nominated for different awards in their respective categories,” Obi stated.
He reiterated his commitment to youth empowerment, emphasizing the importance of fostering a nation that nurtures young talents and enhances national productivity.
Similarly, Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has celebrated his colleague, Tems, after she won the Best African Music Performance category at the 67th Grammy Awards on Sunday.
Taking to social media in the early hours of Monday, the award-winning singer congratulated Tems on her victory over strong competitors, including Yemi Alade, Asake, Burna Boy, and himself.
Tems secured the Grammy with her hit song Love Me Jeje, marking her second win after previously earning a Grammy for her contribution to Future’s chart-topping single Wait For U.
