Lagos, Nigeria – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a 2,000 kg consignment of Indian hemp (skunk), also known as Ghanaian Loud, smuggled from Ghana into Nigeria.

NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the operation in a statement on Sunday, revealing that the seizure was made by NDLEA operatives in Lagos on Wednesday, January 29, at Lekki Beach.

Arrest of Suspects
According to Babafemi, two suspects were arrested while attempting to load the consignment into a truck.

“The suspects, the skunk shipment, and the van were immediately taken into custody,” Babafemi stated.

Additionally, another suspect was apprehended the same day during a raid in the Mushin area of Lagos, with 55kg of skunk found in his possession.

“This operation is a significant success in our fight against drug trafficking,” Marwa said, reiterating NDLEA’s commitment to curbing illicit drug trade in Nigeria.

NDLEA’s Ongoing Drug Awareness Campaign
Beyond enforcement, Babafemi noted that NDLEA formations nationwide have continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, conducting sensitization lectures and advocacy visits to schools, religious centers, workplaces, and traditional rulers’ palaces.
