Asaba, July 8, 2024 (NAN) The Director-General (DG), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Yusha’u Ahmed, has advised corps members to embrace the regimented lifestyle of the camp and stop seeking rejection or relocation.

Ahmed gave the advice on Monday while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC orientation camp, Issele-uku, Delta.

The DG commended camp officials and corps members for the camp’s state, urging them to stay disciplined and observe good hygiene to guard against cholera or any form of disease.

According to him, corps members must see themselves as representatives of the scheme, therefore, living up to its expectation of a disciplined lifestyle.

Ahmed warned the corps members against indulging in self-rejection, explaining there had been reports of some members asking to be rejected or relocated.

“Do not waste your time, accept your posting in good faith; go there and give in your best.

“Corp members should add value to wherever they are posted to; they should strive to improve on the standards of living in their host communities.

“All government establishments and private organisations should absorb and give them opportunities to contribute their quota to national development,” he said.

Ahmed, who declared that the welfare and security of corps members remained the scheme’s priority, warned against them embarking on unauthorised journeys.

He also urged them to dress and appear in conformity with the NYSC dress code.

Earlier, Mr Olusegun Alao, NYSC State Coordinator, while commending the DG for his visit, said the corps members had so far been well-behaved.

He described them as the best. (NAN)
