Lagos, June 18, 2024 – The Lagos State Police Command said it has successfully rescued the three Fouani brothers who were abducted on June 14. The brothers, Abbas Fouani, Youssef Fouani, and Amtal Fouani, were kidnapped last weekend around 6 pm in Lagos while returning from their factory by boat.
Fouani Nigeria Ltd, a company specializing in electronics and the sole distributor of LG, Hisense, and Maxi products in Nigeria, reported the abduction. The incident took place as the brothers were traveling by boat, which led to an immediate police response.
On Monday, the police stated they were working “tirelessly” to secure the release of the victims. Newsreportersng.com, gathered that the brothers, along with their boat driver and his assistant, were freed Monday night in Orugbo Iddo.
Lagos police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the release via WhatsApp, attributing the successful rescue to the efforts of the Lagos Marine Police and the Nigerian Navy.
“They were rescued late last night in Orugbo Iddo. Our marine police, with the support of the Nigerian Navy, brought them to shore,” Hundeyin said. “Thereafter, our tactical team in the area took them home to Banana Island in the early hours of today.”
The rescued individuals include the three Lebanese brothers, the boat captain, and his assistant. They have since been safely returned to their residence.
This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Lagos and the concerted efforts by law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of residents and businesses in the area
