Anambra Police arrest suspected gun runner, recover 375 live cartridges

In a significant crackdown on illegal arms, the Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspected gun runner,who was identified as Felix Oyawa, aged 48, from Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The arrest was made by officers attached to the Fegge division in Onitsha, who also recovered 375 live cartridges during an operation on Niger Street, Fegge.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Toochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that during interrogation, Owaya confessed to being sent by one Mr. Charles Ogboma to an unidentified individual to collect the ammunition. The investigation is ongoing to identify the other parties involved.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, commended the officers for their vigilance and tenacity. He directed all personnel in the Command to sustain the tempo of crime prevention and detection in service of the people of the State,” SP Ikenga stated.

This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the Anambra Police Command to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and enhance security within the state.
