Reactions have continued to trail the killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, a student of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, who was kidnapped alongside her father and siblings in Abuja, by bandits.

In a heartbreaking turn of events, Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar and his six children fell victim to a harrowing kidnapping incident that has left the nation in shock.

Tragically, one of the abducted persons, identified as Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, lost her life at the hands of the kidnappers.

Nabeeha, a dedicated 400-level student of Biological Science at Ahmadu Bello University, was laid to rest on Saturday in accordance with Islamic rites. Compounding the tragedy, others abducted include Najeebah, a 500-level Quantity Surveying student, and Nadheerah, a promising 300-level Zoology student. The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N60 million, a figure that has since escalated to a staggering N100 million.

Reacting to the killing, Labour Party Presidential candidate in the February 25, 2023 elections Mr Peter Obi said:  “The reported tragic killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, a student of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, who was kidnapped alongside her father and siblings in Abuja, by bandits, not only shows how insecurity currently ravages the nation, but also shows how helpless Nigerians have become in the face of these dangers. The trauma being experienced by this family and the blood of this innocent child, should prick our conscience as leaders, whose duty it is to protect the life of every Nigerian citizen.

Similarly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar  has also condemn the killing, saying “I am saddened by reports of the brutal murder of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, who was abducted with her siblings and has been in the custody of their abductors for almost two weeks.

“This is yet another reminder that kidnappers and bandits are operating unhindered in our country. The security architecture needs to be rejigged to the extent that it stems the free rein of criminal elements and guarantees the safety of lives and property. The security agencies should step up action to rescue the rest who are still in the custody of the kidnappers.”
